Job Summary The Auburn University Libraries is seeking candidates for the position of Information Technology Specialist in the Media & Digital Resource Laboratory (MDRL: (please use the apply button below)). Established in 2004, the MDRL is located on the first floor of the RBD Library, offering 40 high-performance Apple OS X and Windows computers equipped with professional design, CAD/modeling, Web development, audio, and video editing applications; large-format printing and scanning capabilities; audio and video recording equipment; and an audio recording room. The MDRL's mission is to serve Auburn University students and faculty in all disciplines, supplementing the library's traditional services with the technology and know-how that patrons require to do their assignments, create e-portfolios, compile instructional materials, and complete research projects. The MDRL offers on-site help-desk and consulting services provided by full-time staff members and student employees. In addition, full time staff provide classroom instruction on MDRL applications upon request. The MDRL serves over 100,000 login sessions annually.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: provide consulting, individual and group instruction, and point-of-use assistance to library patrons; upon request, work with instructors to offer occasional classroom instruction in the applications we offer in the lab; offer guidance to students and faculty patrons on project design by recommending equipment, facilities, and applications offered in the MDRL; assist patrons in the use of same; provide technical support for Auburn University's student e-portfolio initiative ((please use the apply button below)); be familiar with library procedures for handling physical and electronic resources provided by the MDRL and other Library units; make purchase recommendations for equipment and software; and maintain and troubleshoot MDRL equipment, with an emphasis on Apple OS and software deployment.  

Minimum Qualifications **THE CLOSE DATE FOR THIS POSITION HAS BEEN MODIFIED**

Entry into applicant pool requires a high school diploma or equivalent and four (4) years of relevant experience/knowledge to include the following:

1. Experience with digital cameras, video recorders, inkjet/laser printers, and scanning equipment.

2. A working knowledge of applications frequently used in the MDRL. These include Adobe Creative Suite (Acrobat, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Dreamweaver, etc.), iMovie, Final Cut Pro, iPhoto, GarageBand, Microsoft Office, and Apple iWork.

3. Thorough knowledge of Apple OS X. This includes system-imaging deployment solutions with OS X Server, NetInstall, Deploy Studio, and munki/Casper, and preference management via the OS X Managed Client, configuration profiles, and Profile Manager or other equivalent solutions.

4. Understanding of directory services (Active Directory) and its integration with OS X.

5. Experience maintaining Windows computers and related software as described above.

Employer will consider advanced degrees in lieu of experience.

Candidate must be attentive to detail and dependable, have an interest in delivering quality public service to a highly diverse group of Library patrons, and possess excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, and problem resolution skills. Individual must be self-motivated, able to work independently and collaboratively, occasionally taking the lead with certain projects and responsibilities necessary to ensure smooth day-to-day operation of MDRL services. This position requires the candidate to share responsibility with coworkers for some evenings and Sundays on a rotating basis and involves an on-call schedule, where the candidate will need to be available via phone or if necessary, on site to solve a problem.

Desired Qualifications Familiarity with Adobe Enterprise Deployment (AAMEE) and Apple Education Volume License (EVLA) programs are desirable, as are familiarity with W3C standards such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Some software development experience, such as creating scripts for client management; familiarity with Copyright Law, Fair Use, and software license terms. Experience working with cloud-based content-management systems like Weebly, Wix, Google Sites, and WordPress. Experience in hiring, training, managing and supervising student employees. Possession of an Apple Certified Technical Coordinator certification or equivalent competency is a plus, as is familiarity and experience working with common Open Source licenses (including Copyleft/Software Libre).
