Job Purpose
The goal of this position is to work with the university assigned areas to assist with their technology needs incompliance with procedures and policies set forth by Information Technology Services. This entails analyzing the technological needs of the faculty and staff, managing the deployment of systems, and programming server and workgroup policies. They provide Tier II support and work with vendors to resolve issues. They analyze user needs, obtain quotes, manage technology projects, and approve technology purchases. Other responsibilities include deploying new technology and performing system integration testing of hardware/software upgrades. Individuals demonstrate expertise in various custom or packaged hardware and software. They have superior analysis and diagnosis capabilities and outstanding customer service and support skills.

Essential Functions
Administration, including programming & deployment, and analysis of desktop & laptop machines in consultation with users to determine hardware, software & system needs. Completes a needs analysis for users, including system analysis and purchasing recommendations. Project, renewal, and replacement planning for areas of support. Tests and deploys updates and modifications of computer programs related to machine operating systems. Miscellaneous duties, such as communicating with faculty and staff, training / educating users on technology, and determining areas of continuous improvement for technology in their area of support.
Minimum Qualifications
A minimum of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in computer science, management information systems, computer engineering, or a related IT field and two years of relevant experience OR at least 90 hours of college credit with five years’ relevant experience; on-the-job training in IT.
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced degree, experience providing technical support in a higher education environment, experience deploying workstations with SCCM or Casper, AD/GPO experience, experience in strategic planning for technology, and knowledge of web design and maintenance. Extensive technical knowledge of Mac OS X and Windows, multimedia equipment, instructional technology tools, and hardware. MSCE certifications.
Work Hours: Typical hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Other hours as needed.
Compensation and Benefits
Salary Commensurate with education and experience. Administrative Pay Grade AD46.
