About the Position
The IT Systems Engineer provides functional support, subject matter expertise and end user support across CAP for CAP enterprise applications. Performs problem determination for issues in CAP enterprise systems (i.e., Network Voice Systems (Telephony), Collaboration Tools (Microsoft Teams/Cisco Webex), network infrastructure, Virtualized server systems, Financial systems, Maintenance Management systems, and Document Management systems). Resolves functional problems, works with technical staff and external consultants to resolve technical issues. Provides training to clients and communication to management on critical functional issues. Coordinates user upgrade testing, and production patching and maintaining of server security posture. Maintains contact with customers, vendors, and user groups to understand trends and assist CAP make strategic decisions. Determines job priorities based on criticality and business need. Assists IT Infrastructure Architect role in furthering environment design enhancements and upgrades.
Some of the duties include:
- Enterprise Application Administration: Functional administration of Enterprise class applications such as Network Voice Systems (Telephony), Telecommunications, Collaboration Tools (Microsoft Teams / Cisco Webex), network infrastructure, VMWare virtualized server environment Mobile Device Management, User Access Controls (Active Directory), Financials Management, Budget Management, and Document Management. Manage and prioritize all enterprise system problems and changes originating from the IT Computer Support Desk and Change Review Committee. Resolve functional issues and obtain assistance, if necessary, from support, outside consultants, or internal technical staff. Open and manage service requests with the Computer Support desk. Work with technical systems administrators, super users, and database administrators to coordinate the application and testing of upgrades or patches. Communicate the status of open problems and changes to clients and management. Participate on applicable meetings and discussions supporting enterprise system issues. Provide status of open issues and client requests as requested.
- Subject Matter Expert: Advanced level knowledge of applicable functional area such as Virtualized Server Environments, Mobility Management, Financials Management, Budget Management, or Document Management. Provide direction to departmental super users on application configurations and setups or modifications to existing configurations and setups. Assist the IT technical staff with required form or report modifications. Provide direction to super users with any requests for ad-hoc queries and any data conversions. Assist super users with documentation of functional configurations.
- Testing: Work with technical staff and super users to develop test plans, implement test plans, move fixes from test to production environment, and provide post-installation support. Manage the testing of upgrades or patches and report the status on a periodic basis.
About the Qualifications
The successful candidate for this position will have a bachelor’s degree in Information Systems or a related field plus a minimum of 3 (three) years of experience and demonstrated administration skills of the applicable application(s) such as Telecommunication, Network Infrastructure, and Collaboration Systems or User Access Controls (AD, Azure AD) and Document Management. OR; a high school diploma or equivalent with a minimum of 8 (eight) years of experience. Must have experience with configuring and installing applications.
Preference given to candidates who have experience with any of the following: Advanced experience with Microsoft Teams, or other modern collaboration tools, advanced experience with Cisco Telephony Systems, advanced experience with routing and switching (Layer 3), Budget Management, Mobile Device Management, Endpoint Management – Security patching and mitigation, or Virtualized server environments (VMWare).
