Anticipated Hiring Range: $85,000 to $90,000;commensurate w/ exp.  

General Summary of Position: The Senior Network Engineer is a highly advanced technical staff member in the Network Services team. They are responsible for providing advanced input and hands-on support for architecture, design, configuration, and support of network-related systems to meet the business needs of UMass Lowell. This position requires on-call duty, the ability to respond to alerts, and availability off-hours via cell phone.

Minimum Qualifications (Required): -Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
-Industry-recognized certifications such as Extreme Networks Associate, Extreme Networks Specialist, Aruba Certified Solutions Professional, Aruba Certified Mobility Associate, or Cisco Certified Network Associate
-Eight or more years of hands-on experience in network services with expertise in designing, configuring, and supporting routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless systems in an Enterprise or University setting
-Eight or more years of experience implementing and supporting wide area networks and/or remote data center services
-Experience using test equipment and diagnostic tools to resolve wired and wireless issues, including hand held Fluke meters, Wireshark, and the analysis of packet captures
-The ability to work effectively with diverse groups
-Thorough understanding of the OSI network model, Ethernet, TCP/IP, OSPF, BGP, SNMP, and VoIP technologies
-Comprehensive knowledge of DNS, DHCP, and data network technologies as they relate to the design and delivery of network services
-Experience with Ridgeline, NetSight, Cacti, NetScout, or similar systems  

Other Considerations: -Master's degree preferred
-Additional industry-recognized certifications
-Experience designing, configuring, and troubleshooting network equipment from Extreme, Juniper, Brocade, and Aruba
-Experience with VMware, Skype for Business/Lync, and SDN
-Experience troubleshooting fiber optic networks
-Occasionally will need to move network and related equipment up to 40 lbs
-A strong commitment to providing excellent customer service and ensuring the success of our customers
-Excellent problem-solving skills
-Ability to work in small spaces and network closets
-Ability to work in an on-call rotation and occasionally work off-hours for network maintenance, upgrades, and troubleshooting
